Really atmospheric stuff, but not without laughs. The screenplay was by Robert Holmes, who used to be a policeman, and as a result the coppers come across as real people. No-one involved in the production was really happy with the finale, which was originally going to be filmed at night. Apparently an already tight schedule and budget were stretched to breaking point by the bad weather, and they just had to go with a day shoot in order to finish the production.<br /><br />I shall try not to to feel too smug that I bought a tie-in copy of the excellent original novel, and still have it...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
