Ra...Houghton does not seem to me to be sui generis. Rather I think he can be classified with those interwar authors like H. G. Wells and Gerald Heard who thought that mankind had gotten in over his head, and they were waiting for the next evolutionary step to get us out of the mess. Houghton sometimes worked on the fringes of science fiction/fantasy and there is an interesting paragraph on him in The Science Fiction Encyclopedia by Clute and Nicholls (now on line).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
