Of course, what makes it effective is that it doesn't make overt pronouncements but reveals its thesis in the characters and events of the novel.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7291823984059320518.post-6471964872944551242008-09-17T21:58:00.000+01:002008-09-17T21:58:00.000+01:00Patti, I suspect RR is very shy and that is why sh...Patti, I suspect RR is very shy and that is why she came over badly at Waterstones. I heard her speak once in 1995 at a Waterstones in Manchester and she was not a likable woman and that affected my reading of her after that. Someone questioned something in Kingsmarkem, and she said with great scorn, "You know it is my Kingsmarkem and I can do what I wish with it."pattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7291823984059320518.post-34518585325688577322008-09-17T15:02:00.000+01:002008-09-17T15:02:00.000+01:00Someone whose opinion I respect very much recommen...Someone whose opinion I respect very much recommended Rendell's Barbara Vine books to me recently--is there one I should start with, Martin?Laura Benedicthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08474185786017084327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7291823984059320518.post-72042384646176724002008-09-17T13:05:00.000+01:002008-09-17T13:05:00.000+01:00The Rendell programme (along with profiles of Coli...The Rendell programme (along with profiles of Colin Dexter, Ian Rankin and Val Mcdermid)can be watched on ITV catch-up via this page: http://www.itv.com/CatchUp/AtoZ/default.html?Filter=P-Q-R .
