Christmas has been coming for quite a long time as far as I'm concerned, given that Miss Winter in the Library with a Knife is set at Christmas and was published more than three months. At the time of writing, it's been an Amazon #1 bestseller for over four weeks, and was just described in a review in the Sunday Post as 'brilliant'. It has been the most commercially successful of all the books, fact and fiction, that I've ever written, something I'd never have imagined when I was trying to figure out the plot strands eighteen months ago. For that, I'm truly grateful.
And I'm extremely grateful to all those of you who have read this blog and especially those who have got in touch via comments or email. It's always great to hear from you. A few days ago, the blog passed the seven million pageview milestone, and although I've no doubt that figure includes quite a few AI sweeps, it's also evident from the messages I receive that the blog is read by an increasing number of real people, and you are of course the ones I care about and write for.
So I'd like to wish you all the compliments of the season. Have a lovely time, and the blog will swing back into action on Boxing Day with another forgotten book!

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, Martin! Does this mean another Christmas puzzle mystery next year? 🤔
Thanks, Steve. Definitely not next year but possibly one day in the future...
Many happy returns! Long time reader, first time commenter here. I just realized that 10 years ago this month I first discovered the British Library Crime Classics through one of the anthologies you've so expertly edited.
I was taking a train ride from Chicago to Washington DC, and decided to save on luggage space by trying ebooks from my library for the first time. I saw the anthology - I can't remember if it was Miraculous Mysteries or Silent Nights - and since I grew up with a love of the Queens of Crime, I thought the book looked interesting. Little did I know that you and BLCC would launch me on a decade-long voyage of discovery!
Dozens of Golden Age authors and hundreds of books new to me later, I just have to thank the British Library, all the wonderful GAD bloggers, and you most of all for bringing so much great reading back to public notice. It's helped me get through a lot of tough times. Thank you again, and have a wonderful new year!
DCF, thanks so much for this lovely comment. I know a lot of people read this blog without commenting and that's absolutely fine (I do the same myself quite often), though of course it's great to hear from people. So glad you're enjoying the Crime Classics and rest assured, there are plenty more good ones in the pipeline.
