There's a lot going on at the moment. This blog had more than one million pageviews last month and has now passed 15 million pageviews. A huge number, and I'm very grateful to all of you who read 'Do You Write Under Your Own Name?'
I had a very enjoyable time at the British Library on Thursday. Part of the day involved meetings with the Publishing team, which I'm delighted to say is growing in number. There are various new initiatives afoot, as the Library seeks to grow commercial revenue, and from a reader's perspective, this is truly encouraging.
The main reason for my trip was to attend the private view of the Library's new exhibition, Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery. The exhibition opened to the public on Friday, a day which also saw publication of the exhibition book, co-edited by Lucy Rowland, lead curator of the exhibition, and myself. The foreword is by Sir Kenneth Branagh and there's a glittering array of contributors. The book is beautifully produced, and I truly believe that the quality of the text is a match for the quality of the illustrations.
It was great to go around the exhibition, and although we weren't in any way rushed, there was so much to see and to try to absorb that I think I'd like to go back another time! Which is perhaps the greatest compliment one can pay to this kind of show. It's open until late June, and it promises to be one of the Library's most successful exhibitions.
I'm going to write in much greater depth about the book and the exhibition on my Substack newsletter The Life of Crime Premium in the very near future. As I've mentioned before, the piracy of this blog by AI (which I'm sure accounts for some of those pageviews, given that the number each day is now so massive) does concern me, and this is why (although the blog will continue) I am devoting more focus to The Life of Crime, my free monthly newsletter, and Premium, which contains a lot of in-depth and exclusive material, rare images, and info not available elsewhere. So please do sign up for The Life of Crime, which you can do here.
